Local Government Law
Our Firm serves as the Municipal Attorney to the Township of Fairfield, in Essex County, New Jersey; we also serve as Land Use Board Attorney in 5 other communities throughout the state. Dennis M. Galvin was elected and served one term as a Township Committeeman in Jackson Township, Ocean County, New Jersey. He successfully assisted with Jackson's change in government. He has represented various towns in special litigation, such as the de-annexation of a part of a town, and in election matters, challenging a candidate's eligibility to run for or hold office. The Galvin Law Firm has successfully litigated tax appeals and tax foreclosure actions.
His mentor, Michael A. Pane, IV, was known as the Dean of Local Government Lawyers. While employed by Mr. Pane, Mr. Galvin contributed to Westlaw's book on Local Government Law, revising the section on Tax Appeals. Mr. Galvin currently serves as the Chairman of the Local Government Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is Assistant Counsel to the New Jersey Planning Officials and is a regular speaker on topics involving New Jersey's Local Governments.
He is also a regular speaker in the area of government ethics, and has volunteered to assist the Citizens Campaign with its goal of improving the integrity of local government officials in New Jersey.
